Entering the 2022 season with its 350th race this month, the prestigious Porsche championship returns for its milestone 20th anniversary. The Porsche Carrera Cup GB continues to be an unmissable feature of every motorsport enthusiast’s calendar. It is still the fastest single marque GT racing championship in the country.
But it is not only a magnetic attraction for spectators. The championship acts as the perfect audition for ambitious drivers keen to prove themselves and accelerate their progression in the world of motorsport. Focusing on pure driver skill, the Championship uses identical cars creating a thrilling, close racing environment and features superb facilities for both drivers and teams.
Former drivers such as Charlie Eastwood, Richard Westbrook, Michael Meadows and Damien Faulkner have used their success as Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain champions to fuel their careers as professional GT racers. Nicholas Latifi, who took part in the 2015 Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain season, reached the pinnacle of motorsport as a driver for the Formula 1® championship team, Williams Racing, in 2020.
The Car
The newly introduced 992 911 GT3 Cup for the 2022 season is faster, more durable, more efficient and even safer than its predecessors. It is quite simply a pure-bred race car and a precision instrument for the racetrack.
The latest 992 uses a four-litre six-cylinder boxer engine which delivers greater power, producing a total of 510 hp at 8,400 rpm and 470 Nm at 6,150 rpm. Drive force is transmitted to the rear axle by a racing clutch and a Porsche six-speed sequential transmission and limited slip differential.
A key benefit of this new drive system is that the engine and gearbox run times have been doubled before they require their first rebuild since the last generation with 100 hours engine runtime and 120 hours gearbox runtime, thereby significantly reducing operating costs. The 911 GT3 Cup is still the number one sports racing car among motorsports teams and drivers. It competes in prestigious racing events around the world including GT racing series and endurance races. Delivering incredible performance, it is also the most equal car in motorsport, clearly demonstrating individual driver skill and nerve.

*Data determined in accordance with the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) as required by law. You can find more information on WLTP at www.porsche.com/wltp . For Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) range and Equivalent All Electric Range (EAER) figures are determined with the battery fully charged, using a combination of both battery power and fuel.
Values are provided for comparison only. To the extent that fuel and energy consumption or CO₂ values are given as ranges, these do not relate to a single, individual car and do not constitute part of the offer. Optional features and accessories can change relevant vehicle parameters such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics which may result in a change in fuel or energy consumption and CO₂ values. Vehicle loading, topography, weather and traffic conditions, as well as individual driving styles, can all affect the actual fuel consumption, energy consumption, electrical range, and CO₂ emissions of a car.
